He was predeceased by : his parents, Delpha Archer Sloan and W. Ernest Sloan; his sister Doris Jackson; and his daughter Sherry Goetzl. He is survived by : his wife Sandra Garrett; his sister Carol Hersey; his daughters, Lisa Simmons (Robert) and Debra Gil (Henry); his grandchildren, Ryan Goetzl (Nicole), Chelsey Shimanek (Joe), Serena Peterson (Bryce) and Jude Sayre; and his great grandchildren, Oliver Shimanek and Kori Goetzl.

Memorials may be directed to Cedar Valley Hospice.
