It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Melvin Whitacre (Gruver, Iowa), born in Estherville, Iowa, who passed away on January 21, 2019, at the age of 83, leaving to mourn family and friends. He was predeceased by: his parents, Henry Alfred and Ida Mae Whitacre (Pickell); and his siblings, Cecil, Charles, John, Gene, Henrietta Peterson, Trella DeVoss and Leona Fisher.
He is survived by: his brother Bev; his wife Beverly; and his children, Debra Henricksen-Moriarity (Mike), Terry Whitacre (Shelly), Lenny Whitacre (Kim), Monty Whitacre, Jackie Harris (Mark) and Wanette Zimmerman (Lance). He is also survived by 42 grandchildren; and 52 great-grandchildren; and 5 great-great-grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers donations are preferred to be made in Melvin's name to American Heart Association, Good Samaritan Home in Estherville, or AlzheimersAssociation.org.
