She is survived by: her grandchildren, Sonja Carmon (Chris) of Cambridge, IA, Jeanine Lovell (Paul), Melody Countryman and Eric Countryman Polo; her great grandchild Hannah Carmon of Cambridge, IA.; her daughter Connie Backes (Gary); and her sister Thelma Melquist of Rockford, IL. She is also survived by relatives in Norway and nieces and nephews.
