Marilyn Ann Knauss Obituary

With heavy hearts, we announce the death of Marilyn Ann Knauss of Harlan, Iowa, born in Grinnell, Iowa, who passed away on January 30, 2023 at the age of 87. Leave a sympathy message to the family on the memorial page of Marilyn Ann Knauss to pay them a last tribute.

She was predeceased by : her parents, Frederick Harry and Katherine Magdalene Hubbard (Schilder); her former life partner Keith Stahl; her spouse Russell L. Hoien; and her sister Karon Benson.

She is survived by : her daughter Jodie White (Vernon) of Bancroft; her granddaughter Kristina Marie Lehman (Ryan); her great grandchildren, Caden and Dylan Lehman of Tiffin, Iowa; her brother Dean Hubbard (Joy) of Montezuma; her nieces, Allison Pargeon (Daryl) and Alicia Minner (Travis); her nephew Adam Hubbard (Abby); her sister Ann Emehiser (Mike) of Indianola; her niece Julie Werling (Ryan); her nephew Brett Emehiser (Brittany); her sister Wanda Van Kampen (Cary); and her nieces and nephews, Emily Orr (Christopher), Charlie Van Kampen (Tomi Jo), Kandi Jo Nelson (Brad), Kari Lynn Benson and Rob Benson (Kim).

The advent of the COVID-19 pandemic interrupted her pleasant and peaceful life and caused an immediate downgrade in her mental state. She was relocated to a memory care unit in Estherville but, due to COVID, her care and interaction with staff and residents was very limited.

Marilyn continued living in her home in Harlan until symptoms of Alzheimer's disease began to present in her everyday life.
