He was predeceased by: his parents, William Grote and Julia Grote (Lutsgraaf); and his brothers, Fred, Jim, Thomas and LeRoy Grote.
He is survived by: his significant others, Monsignor Schwarte and Don Leinen; his siblings, Raphael Grote (Margaret) of Dunlap, Iowa and Hilary (Peter Gaul) of Melbourne, Florida; and his sisters-in-law, Theresa Grote of Portsmouth and Betty Grote of Earling, Iowa. He is also survived by nieces and nephews; other relatives and many friends.
