It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Lavera Swarthout (Homestead, Iowa), born in Melcher, Iowa, who passed away on January 20, 2020, at the age of 99, leaving to mourn family and friends. She was predeceased by: her husband Fred Swarthout; her parents, Edward Luke and Emma Luke; and her sisters, Jessie Scott, Lucille (Joe Seddon), Betty (Darvin Dare), Darlene (Gene Swarthout) and Marilyn (James Swanson).
She is survived by: her children, Emma Luke (May), Edward Erben of Madrid, Jack Lee (Donna) of Newton and Spain; her grandchildren, Kelly Jo Swarthout of California, Eric Zane Swarthout of California, Kirk Edward Swarthout of California, Ronald Swarthout (Mariciel) of Pennsylvania and Travis Swarthout of Newton; her great grandchildren, Ryan Swarthout and Brandon Wolfe; and her daughter-in-law Linda Swarthout of Long Beach, CA.. She is also survived by nieces, nephews, and grandchildren.
