He was predeceased by : his parents, Hugo H. Hilmer and Jessie L. Hilmer (Close) of Vinton, IA.; his wife Janet Dudley; and his sister Betsy Reuter. He is survived by : his former life partner Mayme Graves; his children, Diane Farrell (Steve) of Independence, IA., Sandy Ohl (Mike) of Winthrop, IA, Kathy Brown (Joe) of Independence, IA. and Tom Hilmer of Independence, IA; his siblings, Louise Vogel of Key West, FL, Doris Hansen of Cedar Rapids, IA and Herman Hilmer of Cedar Falls, IA; and his brother-in-law Kenneth Graves (Ruby Kimber). He is also survived by his 12 grandchildren; his 31 great grandchildren.
