With heavy hearts, we announce the death of James E. Bowers of Independence, Iowa, born in Marengo, Iowa, who passed away on October 23, 2020 at the age of 77. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.

He was predeceased by : his parents, Bigelow Edwin Bowers and Pauline Bowers (Frederickson) of Virginia. He is survived by : his former life partner Shirley Marie Russell; his children, Brian Bowers (Madelin) of Arlington Heights, IL, Kathleen Foster of Cedar Rapids, IA and Melissa Short (Dave); and his former life partner Shirley Smith (Allan) of Cedar Rapids, IA.. He is also survived by 6 grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren.

Social distancing and masks will be required.
