He was predeceased by: his parents, Delores Gunnarson and Robert Gunnarson. He is survived by: his wife Jan; his daughters, Kelley Schmitz (Jason), Kim Schou (Tim) and Kristi Kerner (Joe); his grandchildren, Hadley, Grant, Nora, Jordan and Riley; and his siblings, Bob Gunnarson (Barb) and Marcia Gering. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
A celebration of life will be held on Sunday, December 14th 2025 from 1:00 PM to 3:30 PM at the Gathering Overton Funeral Home (501 W Ashland Ave, Indianola, IA 50125). The inurnment will be held on Monday, December 15th 2025 at 10:00 AM at the Memorial Gardens Cemetery (1202 S Jefferson Way, Indianola, IA 50125).
