She was predeceased by: her husband William De Bruyn; and her grandson Dylan. She is survived by: her sons, Van H. De Bruyn (Dana) and Dirk W. De Bruyn; her brother Alan Wille; her grandchildren, Chistopher Scott, Collin (Mary Alice), Shea and Brynn; her great grandchild Lacey Belle; her friend Margery McCardell; and her pet Salem.
In lieu of flowers, those who wish to honor Carol's memory may consider a donation to a charity of their choice in her name. Given her passion for reading, some may wish to support organizations promoting literacy, the Iowa City Public Library (https://www.icpl.org), or other local libraries.
