He was predeceased by: his parents, Earl M. Schmidt and Patricia Anderson (Amy); his former wife Carolyn Heath; his children, Mathew J. Schmidt and Rebecca Schmidt; and his son-in-law Brian Wacker.
He is survived by: his wife Vera Borzova; his sister Joan Chandler of Charles City, IA; his children, John Schmidt (Tina), Michael Schmidt (Jill) of Kent, Matthew E. Schmidt of Orange, Greta Wacker of Helena, MT and Katya Schmidt of Orange; his grandchildren, Scott Schmidt, Bethany Schmidt (Jonathan Bletsoe), Amanda Happel (Steve), Jessica Wester (Emmet), Douglas Schmidt (Kelly Scheuerman), Rebecca Wacker (Sean Barbula) and Jennifer Schmidt; and his great grandchildren, Brian Wester and Zoey Wester.
Use of masks and social distancing will be mandatory at all events.
