He was predeceased by : his father Art Herman; and his mother-in-law Christine Roseberry. He is survived by : his mother Shirley Herman (Watkins); his former life partner Aimee; his children, Connor and Danae Lillie Herman (Dustin Scharnberg); and his brother Frank Herman (Arty) of Herman's Fine Jewelry. He is also survived by his family, friends.

Visitation was held on Wednesday, April 24th 2024 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the Memorial Services of Iowa (4208 N Ankeny Blvd, Ankeny, IA 50023). A funeral service was held on Thursday, April 25th 2024 at 2:30 PM at the Funeral Home Memorial Services of Iowa. A burial was held on Thursday, April 25th 2024 at the Ankeny Memorial Gardens.

Donny's final act of kindness was to give the gift of life through organ and tissue donation.
