He was predeceased by: his parents, Roy Nelson and Anna Nelson (Olson); his wife Leanna Rogers; and his siblings, Russell, Richard and Dorothy Ann.
He is survived by: his children, Jay Nelson (Kirsten) of Austin, MN, Tom Nelson of North Liberty, IA and Jody VanDuyn (John) of Urbandale, IA; his grandchildren, Amy Hartman (Justin), Barry VanDuyn (Jenny), Emma Muenzer-Doy (Sam), Owen Nelson and Davis Nelson; and his great grandchildren, Asher, Andrew and Sylvie.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Iowa City Hospice.
