It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Gerald R. Downey of Iowa City, Iowa, born in Emmetsburg, Iowa, who passed away on September 26, 2021, at the age of 83, leaving to mourn family and friends. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.

He was predeceased by: his parents, Joseph L. Downey and Florence M Downey (Harms); and his sister Karen Campbell. He is survived by: his wife Kathryn; and his stepchildren, Scot and Lee Plettenburg.

In lieu of flowers memorial donations can be made to Iowa City Hospice and the Tunnels to Towers Foundation.
