It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Merle Vincent Opheim Jr. (Iowa City, Iowa), who passed away on February 12, 2021, at the age of 76, leaving to mourn family and friends. He was predeceased by: his parents, Merle Opheim Sr. and Ardis Opheim; and his daughter Benita Carriger (Opheim). He is survived by: his wife Michele Opheim; his children, Bryena Opheim and Blaine Opheim (Tia Perez); and his siblings, Linda Purdy (Bill), Butch (Bobbie), Randy (Sinva), Daryl (Johnna), Debbie Hayes (Veryl) and Kevin.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the family in care of Michele Opheim, to honor Merle with planting a tree at West Liberty Country Club.
