She was predeceased by: her parents, Pat Pope and Helen Pope; her granddaughter Sora Jo; her brother Joseph Pope; and her sister-in-law Jeanne Pope.
She is survived by: her husband Thoru Yamada; her children, Pope Yamada (Darcie) of Iowa City and Torrii Yamada Dretsch (Will) of Minneapolis, MN; her grandchildren, Kirin and Raiden; her brothers, Frank Pope (Elizabeth) of Sioux Falls, SD and Patrick Pope of Bossier City, LA; and her siblings' children, Patrick Pope (Kati), Katherine Pope, Michael Pope (Gabrielle), Jennifer Pope, John Pope and Patti. She is also survived by her family, friends.
A rosary will be held on Wednesday, December 17th 2025 at 4:00 PM at the Lensing Funeral & Cremation Service (605 Kirkwood Ave, Iowa City, IA 52240). Visitation will be held on Wednesday, December 17th 2025 from 4:30 PM to 6:30 PM at the same location. A Mass will be held on Thursday, December 18th 2025 at 10:00 AM at the St. Patrick Catholic Church (4330 St Patricks Dr, Iowa City, IA 52240).
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to the Iowa City Children's Museum, the Oaknoll Foundation, and/or Iowa City Hospice in Patti's name, honoring her lifelong dedication to community service.
