He was predeceased by : his parents, Howard Miller and Mildred Miller (Greier); his son-in-law Tom Boelman; his grandson Ryan Boelman; and his brothers, Alan and James Miller.

He is survived by : his wife Jan; his son Heath Miller (Lisa) of Kellogg, IA; his stepchildren, Christine Boelman of Harlan, IA, Scot Miller (Elise) of Richfield, OH and Mark Miller of Ackley, IA; his grandchildren, Nicole Williams (Art Bailey), Brandon Miller (Josi), Izaak Miller (Nattalie Kinnetz), Matthew Miller (Katie), Meghan Miller, Katie Miller and Kelly Miller; his great grandchildren, Eli, Dean and Mia; his siblings, Patricia Brush (Frank) and Ryan Miller (Carmen); and his sister-in-law Sally Miller. He is also survived by nieces, nephews and many friends.

A memorial service was held on Friday, May 10th 2024 at 11:30 AM at the Hampton - Woodley Funeral Home (306 Central Ave E, Hampton, IA 50441).

Diane Fischer wrote a sympathy message

“I've been thinking about all the good times I have had with John and Jan. The funniest to me was the Halloween party at the country club when we were in costume. Another funny that comes to mind; is when he said Robin's two rabbits were both the same sex and we wouldn't have any baby rabbits. Well, we had 14 baby bunnies. John will be missed by all who knew him. We'll hold him in our hearts forever. Diane Fischer”
