He was predeceased by: his parents, Howard Swainey and Lillian Bay Swainey; his daughter Kerry Varner; and his brother David Swainey. He is survived by: his former spouses, Karen Trumbo and Vickey Varner; his children, Cathleen Courtois (Steve) of Keokuk, Deaven Swainey of Minneapolis, Kacey Seabold (Adam) of Kahoka, Andrew Swainey (Melissa Clise) of Diamond, OH, Ryan Swainey (Karin) and Sean Swainey (Raegan) of Keokuk; his son-in-law Bill Varner of Keokuk; his grandchildren, Keegan Courtois (Deanna), Kayleigh Glick (James), Taylor Courtois, Trenton Varner, Cody Varner, Madison Swainey, Alayna Swainey, Andrew Swainey, Iver Swainey, Ardith Swainey, Kaelan Swainey, Lucas Swainey, Sadie Swainey, Adalynn Swainey and Remington Seabold; and his sisters, Rosemary Swainey of Chariton, IA and Rebecca Swainey of Indianola, IA.. He is also survived by eleven great-grandchildren.
