He was predeceased by: his parents, Walter O'Connor and Maedean O'Connor (Bishop); his sister Elaine Dull; his brother-in-law Clay Dull; and his pet Abby.

He is survived by: his former spouse Jean Kluck; his wife Gaby O'Connor of Maquoketa; his sons, Sean O'Connor (Melissa) of Azle and Tim O'Connor (Tanya) of Argyle, Texas; his stepdaughters, Monica Arguelles of Austin and Karen Arguelles of Pasadena, California; his grandchildren, Michaela, Evan, Katelynn, Kyran and Aedan; his stepgrandchildren, Diego and Camila; his sisters, Calleen Randall of Marion and Erin Reinicke (Eric) of Platteville, Wisconsin; and his pets, Nick and Charlie. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, memorials in Dennis' memory may be made to the Central City Masonic Lodge.
