She is survived by: her husband Stuart Lynn Morehead of Maquoketa, IA; her children, April (CJ) of Maquoketa, IA, Erin (Matt) of Maquoketa, IA and Tim (Maisie) of Preston, IA; her grandchildren, Karlye, Klaire, Kole, Tyson, Derek, Luke, Brody, Aliya and Braydon; and her siblings, Debbie Helmsorig, Becky Meyer (Tom), Dick Brauer (Chris) of Dubuque, IA, Kathy Nank (Jeff), Dave Brauer (Shawn) of Waterloo, IA, Jeff Brauer and Brian Brauer (Val).

In lieu of other expressions of sympathy, a Karen D. Morehead memorial fund has been established.
