He was predeceased by: his parents, William F. Litterer and Marie Litterer (Scheidecker); his former wife Muriel Lee Jacobs; his daughter Teri Robinson; and his siblings, Elmer, Alice Stauffer, Edna Franke and Gladys Stauffer.
He is survived by: his wife Darlene Bauer of Maquoketa, IA; his children, Trucking, Mike Litterer of Ft. Madison, IA, Jennie DuPont of Balmerton, Ontario, Theiann Scherby (Art) of Kakabeka Falls and Jay Litterer (Jill) of Bettendorf, IA; and his stepchildren, Kathy Bales (Don), Sheryl O'Brien (Dennis), Rob Bauer (Kathy), Julie Bruns (Bob), Wendy Winegar (Craig), Carolyn Clark (Danny), Arlen Bauer (Vonda), Luann Ehrler and Colleen Zschiegner (Roland). He is also survived by 9 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren; 18 step-grandchildren, and 29 step-great-grandchildren.
In lieu of other expressions of sympathy, memorials may be made to the Salvation Army.
