She was predeceased by: her parents, Warren Zier and Lura Stewart (Waddington); her husband Neil Sills; her son Donald Sills; and her siblings, Doris Schwendemann (Don), Basil Zier (Mickey) and Norman Zier.

She is survived by: her daughter-in-law Denise Sills of St. Charles, Missouri; her niece Heidi Polson (David) of Lake; and her nephews, Steven Schwendemann (Sherri) of Ft. Dodge and Ricky Zier (Claudia) of Apache Junction, Arizona..

In lieu of flowers, memorials in Bernita's memory may be made to either the Marion Methodist Church or the Honey-Do Fund at Marion Methodist Church.
