He was predeceased by: his parents, Ralph McKirgan and Evelyn McKirgan (Hage); and his siblings, Dale and Dawn. He is survived by: his wife Joanne McKirgan of Marion; his children, Renae Popelar (Tony) of Cedar Rapids, Heather Reeser (Greg) of North Phoenix, Ryan Gilchrist (Michelle) of Litchfield Park, Brian Elshoff of Oklahoma City, Matt McKirgan of Scottsdale and Amanda Pierce of Cedar Rapids; his grandchildren, Jack Reeser, Shay Larson, Emma Reeser, Sam Larson, Katie Reeser, Zoe Gilchrist, Addison Pierce, Reese Pierce, Libbie Popelar and Elle Gilchrist; and his siblings, Diane Gordon, Duane McKirgan (Sherry), Renae Rhoades and Linda Whildin (John).
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the Dan McKirgan memorial fund at Hills Bank.
