He was predeceased by: his parents, Merle Long and Malinda Long (Moeller); his sister Milda Redmond; and his nephew Gary Redmond. He is survived by: his former wife Margaret McCann; his wife Marjorie Lerch; his daughters, Lisa Long of Des Moines and Dana Derby of Marion; his grandchildren, Sara Derby of Cedar Rapids, Iowa and Joe Derby (Abbie) of Castle Rock, Colorado; and his sister Kay Studt of Cedar Rapids. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
