He was predeceased by: his parents, Paul Straka and Bernice Straka; and his sister Vera. He is survived by: his former wife Joyce Marilyn Fisk Long; his wife Joyce Straka of Marion; his daughters, Retha Straka of Marion, Renae Heims of Marion, Rhonda and Straka-Jefferson of Springfield, Virginia; his stepdaughter Lisa Rush (Albert) of Kannapolis; his grandchildren, Alec, Lauren, Landon, McKinsey, Courtney (Garrett), Lindsey and Jasmin; his great grandchildren, Lennox, Ronin, Kane and Taryn; his siblings, Darlene Lerch (Larry) of Marion, Clyde Straka of Cedar Rapids and Don Straka (Judy) of Dorchester, Iowa; and his nephews, Andrew and Tim Lerch. He is also survived by his pets, "Cali" his cat.
