He is survived by: his wife Mary Mefferd of Marion; his children, Robin Jurgens of Marion, Michael Mefferd of Mt. Vernon, William Mefferd (Therese) of Bertram and Scott Mefferd (Chrissy) of Cedar Rapids; his grandchildren, Richard, Laura, Cody, Cameron, Cayden, Brennen (Malary), Mallory (Dan) and Will; his great grandchildren, Aspen and Oaklyn; his sisters, Ann Thie, Judy Bakken (Hubert) and Linda McKnight; and his siblings-in-law, Bill Gruber (Sharon), Tom Gruber (Ellen) and Karen Fox. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews and friends.
