She was loved and cherished by many people including: her parents, Harold Gunderson and Violet Gunderson (Miller); her former husband Corporal Ross Hartwig; her husband James "Jim" Benson; her children, Roxanne Goecke (Don), Tim Benson (Darlene Thomas), Rod Benson (Sherry), Becky Whitaker (Kevin), Tammy Flora (Jay) and Jay; her grandchildren, Scott Goecke (Hillary), Heather Stanley (Tim), Brandon Benson, Alyssa Randall (Joel), Alarie Crouch (Joe), Blake Benson (Brittney), Justin Whitaker (Jeraco), Jared Whitaker (Lindsay), Wade Whitaker (Molly), Tara Trine (Casey), Jenny Vinzant (Brandon), Danielle Smith (Nate), Josh Benson (Natasha), Whitney Brix (Dan), Elizabeth Benson (Kyle Corbett), Emily Edleman (Jacob) and Nicole Trager (Carter); her great grandchildren, Jake, Oliver, Sid, Samuel, Emma, Avery, Greta, Clara, Olivia, Ella, Nora, Jackson, Carson, Camden, Cora, Addi, Beau, Bia, Aidra, Layne, Drake, Cael, Brecken, Boden, Jacie, Kamry, Eden, Ira, Owen, Isaac, Ember, Porter and Charlotte; and her siblings, Robert Gunderson, Doris Hartwig and Gloria Baughman. She was also cherished by several nieces, nephews and other extended family.
