She was predeceased by: her parents, Otto Thielen and Lovelda Thielen (Smith); her husband Edward Simon of Savanna; her parents-in-law, Edward and Mildred Simon; and her siblings-in-law, Phyllis Lewis, Norma Zigler, John Zigler, Wally Lewis and Stanley Von Thun.
She is survived by: her children, Douglas Simon (Lisa) and Karen Simon Hildebrand (Mike Smith); her grandchildren, Kelly Williams (Jason), Brent Simon, Cole and Riley Hildebrand; her great grandchild Bodhi Williams; her sister Nancy Von Thun; and her nieces and nephews, Kathy Rossett (Pat), Melanie Galle (Mike), Scott Lewis (Tabby), Charlotte Peters (Mike), Steven Von Thun (Marigrace) and Laura Von Thun.
A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, May 31st 2025 from 1:00 PM to 4:00 PM at the Monticello Eagles Club (102 Lindner Ct, Monticello, IA 52310).
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in LaFonda's name to St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital or Camp Courageous of Iowa.
