He was predeceased by: his parents, Carroll Otis and Margaret Yerington Fankhauser; his brothers, Carroll and Ron Fankhauser; and his brother-in-law Jim Bates.
He is survived by: his wife Betty Fankhauser of Muscatine; his granddaughter Allie; his sons, Michael Fankhauser (Adele Huang) of Taiwan, Joseph Fankhauser (Brandy) of Muscatine and Adam Fankhauser of Des Moines; his grandchildren, Isaih of Des Moines, Deshawn of Des Moines, Elizabeth of Des Moines, Gabriella Fankhauser of Des Moines and Aria Fankhauser of Taiwan; and his siblings, Rick Fankhauser of Muscatine, Rita Bates of Muscatine, Joy Hayslett of Iowa City, Karen Heick (Scott) of West Liberty and Kelly Bridenstine (Jerry) of West Liberty. He is also survived by his friends and son, and visiting with his grandchildren.
