She was predeceased by: her parents, Jerry Metz and Anna Martz Metz; her great grandchild Khloe Hopkins; her children-in-law, Merry Axel and Michael Rice; her siblings, Melvin Metz and Faith Passmore; and her aunts, Bessie Martz and Ella Martz King.
She is survived by: her husband Harvey C. Axel; her children, Gary Axel and Sally Jo Rice of Greensboro; and her granddaughters, Amy Wagner (Gary) of Seattle and Michelle Axel.
Memorials may be made to First Baptist Church. 'Peggy' was born on February 14, 1924, in Muscatine, the daughter of Jerry and Anna Martz Metz.
