He was predeceased by: his parents, Lyle Thompson and Agnes Shoultz Thompson; his wife Phyllis D. LaRue; and his sisters, Virginia and Shirley.

He is survived by: his children, Scott E. Thompson (Cathy) of Lynchburg, Brad A. Thompson (Susan) of Fruitland and Amber R. Sisnroy (Joey) of Eliza, Illinois.

Memorials may be made to New Hope United Methodist Church.
