She was predeceased by: her parents, Elmer Sandvig and Sadie Sandvig (Lilly); her husband Lyle Arthur Firkins; her son-in-law Steve Carson; and her siblings, Maurine Spiker, Donna Young, Donald Sandvig, William "Bill" Sandvig, Arnold Sandvig, Jim Sandvig and Jack Sandvig.
She is survived by: her daughter Vickie Carson-Liston (George) of Newton; her grandsons, Greg Carson (Jennifer) of Georgia and Matt Carson (Jackie) of Newton; her great grandchildren, Bella, Gracie, Devin, Bridget (Brandon), Indy, Halle, Bree and Cole; her great great grandchildren, Nevaeh, Isaac, Mila and Bradley; and her sister Patricia Carmichael (Garlin). She is also survived by her many nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held on Friday, October 10th 2025 at 2:00 PM at the Holy Trinity Lutheran Church (1409 S 8th Ave E, Newton, IA 50208). Visitation will be held on Friday, October 10th 2025 at 3:00 PM at the same location.
