He was predeceased by: his parents, Ralph Owens and Jennie Owens (Danks); his former wife Sharon Owens; his son Christopher Owens; and his siblings, Alpha Tuescher (LeRoy) and Leonard Owens.

He is survived by: his wife Cindy Owens of Newton; his sibling's children, Richard Tuescher of Independence, David Tuescher of Des Moines and Paula Stogdill (Warren) of Des Moines; his great-nephew Ronald Tuescher; and his great-niece Jennie Givens (Zachary).
