He was predeceased by: his parents, Charles Opkis and Minnie Opkis (Doescher); his wife Phyllis Dye of John's Episcopal Church; his son Jarrod Opkis; and his grandson Zachary Opkis.

He is survived by: his pet Tink; his children, Debora Opkis, Mark Opkis (Mandy) and Wendy Coyle (Mark); and his sister Charlene Groven.

Memorials may be directed to the family of Alvin Opkis.
