She was predeceased by : her parents, Richard and Sallie Carter Jr. (Raney). She is survived by : her husband Jeff Bakken of North Liberty; her children, Jakeb Bakken of Ames, Jaclyn Bakken of North Liberty and Jayson Bakken of North Liberty; her siblings, Richard Carter of Hawthorne, Robin Carter (Cindy) of Omaha, Russell Carter (Anne) of Fernandina Beach, Florida, Dawn Hoberg of Surprise, Eve Carter of Phoenix, Honey Yates (Skip) of Underwood and Wendy Solberg (Jerry) of Des Moines, Iowa; her parents-in-law, Jerry and Bonnie Bakken of Northwood, Iowa; and her sisters-in-law, Julie Cooney (Bill) of Clear Lake and Jennifer Haugebak (Tim) of Anthem, Arizona.. She is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces, and great nephews.
To celebrate her life just as she wanted, services will be held at Terry Trueblood Recreation Area after the Coronavirus pandemic restrictions have been lifted.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be directed to the family to be distributed to organizations that were important to Melody.
