He was predeceased by: his wife Marilyn Thompson Hamby; his parents, Ruth Hamby and Albert Hamby; and his great-grandparent Sarah. He is survived by: his children, Candi Banghart (Bill), Jackie Brock, Lonnie Hamby (Alana) and Chris Storm; and his sister Hazel Fisher. He is also survived by grandchildren and sixteen great-grandchildren.
