She was predeceased by: her parents, Herman Rethman and Velma Rethman; her husband Gail Alexander; and her grandson Jason Cumings. She is survived by: her children, Kathy Cumings, Greg Alexander (Karen) and Doug Alexander (Karen). She is also survived by six grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren.

Memorials may be made to the Ronald McDonald House in Des Moines or Kiya Koda Humane Society in Indianola.
