He is survived by: his wife Joyce Childers of Oelwein; his children, Todd Childers (Pam) of West Union and Janet McKeeman (Lowell) of Oelwein; his grandchildren, Tasha, Alan, Robby, Riley, Ryan, Ricky and Regan; his great grandchild D. J. McKeeman; his siblings, Robert Childers (Joan) of Kenosha, Wisconsin and Sandra Latham of Oelwein; and his siblings-in-law, Jean Childers of Bovill, Patty Childers of Hawkeye and Gary Bass of Oelwein. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
