He was predeceased by : his parents, John Etjen and Lydia Etjen (Kettwig); his wife Bernie; his sisters, Shirley Bergman, Mavis Neymeyer and Lois Harken; and his son-in-law Dennis Hook.

He is survived by : his friend Mary Sullivan of Parkersburg; his daughters, Cindy Kannegieter, Suzie Hook, Kelly Etjen of Parkersburg and Nichole Schipper (Chad) of Aplington; his grandchildren, Tara Miller (Matt), Melissa Miller (Pat), Jeremiah Hook (Tanya), Bailie Schipper (Reagan) and Jacob Schipper (Bre); his great grandchildren, Laikyn Barrett (Silas), Bodey Miller (Sommer), Carley, Addison, Hayden Hook and Jace Miller; and his siblings, Craig Etjen (Bonnie) of Parkersburg, Jim Etjen of Federal Way and Connie Simon (Scott) of Parkersburg. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
