He was predeceased by : his parents, Homer St and Erma St; his stepfather Earl Thompson; his brothers, Merle and Elmer Sharar; his stepdaughter Denise M. Boose; his stepgrandchildren, Michael Eiffler and Jennifer Boose; his stepgreat-grandson Kaleb Reddout; and his brother-in-law Carl Stocks.

He is survived by : his children, Fred A. Sharar (Lori), Aaron Sharar of Cedar Falls, Theresa Sharar of Washburn and Dawn Parks (Bob) of Fairmont; his siblings, Norman Sharar (Xanta) of Sumner and Ethel Stocks of Evansdale; and his stepchildren, Michelle Hood (Stan) of Cedar Falls, Tammy Stapleton (Pat Burt) of Aurora, Roberta Pope (Joe) of Waterloo and Craig Stuber (Cindy) of Grundy Center. He is also survived by several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
