He was loved and cherished by many people including : his parents, Kobus Fekkers and Miriam Fekkers (Achtermann); his wife Loretta Simpson of Parkersburg; his daughters, Debbie Halley of Eau Clare, WI and Bobbette Patterson (Tom) of Parkersburg; his grandchildren, Jaime Halley, Amanda Halley, Emily Hacker (David) and Jonah Patterson; his great grandchild Katrina Riley; his pet Precious Miracle; and his sisters, Henrietta Fekkers and Jeanette Buss. He was also cherished by several nieces and nephews.

“Dear Lori, Debbie, and Bobbette, I am so sorry for your loss of dear Jim. I have wonderful memories of visits with your family. Jim was always friendly and funny, and my dad really enjoyed their friendship. A very thoughtful thing that Jim did a few years before my dad passed away was to give their army letters to Dad; that was a gift to both Dad and Mom. I am enjoying thinking of the two of them singing gospel music in Heaven together. You will be in my prayers. ——Lisa Frey Robertson”
