He was predeceased by: his parents, Patricia Marie (Peterson) and Lawrence Edward Melhus; and his brother Jeff of Galesburg. He is survived by: his wife Lorie Jo (Holt) of Pella, Iowa; his sons, Matt Melhus (Brittany) of Liberty, Missouri, Brian Melhus (Rhea) of Waukee, Iowa and T. J. Melhus of Seattle, Washington; his granddaughters, Avree, Emmersen, Finley and Penelope; his mother-in-law Eunice Holt of Pella, Iowa; his siblings, Andrea Themas (Ron) of Davenport, Iowa, Susan Melhus-Lee of Geneseo, Illinois and Michael Melhus (Rosemary) of Savanna, Illinois; and his sister-in-law Cheryl Melhus of Galesburg, Illinois. He is also survived by nieces and nephews.
