He was predeceased by: his parents, Joseph DeRooi and Effie DeRooi (Van Engelenhoven); his parents-in-law, Otto and Effie Pothoven (Stursma); his son Keith DeRooi; and his siblings-in-law, Gladys Pothoven, Cathryn Van Wyk, Harry Van Wyk, Marion Franje and Stan Pothoven.
He is survived by: his wife Gladys Ann Pothoven; his children, Valerie, Kent, Robert and Jeffrey; and his sisters-in-law, Vera Franje of New Sharon and Marcia Pothoven of Peoria.
