He is survived by : his former life partner Susan Jo Kinch; his wife Sue Saari of Robins; his children, Kelly Saari (Steve Miedke) of Shellsburg, Kathy Caldbeck (Chris) of Hiawatha, Karena Sauser (Brian) of Dubuque, Denise Kwapil (Jason) of Palo, Doug Cronbaugh of Iowa City, Carrie Meggers (Tim) of Cedar Rapids, David Navratil of Hiawatha and Brett Denlinger (Jessica) of Robins; his grandchildren, Shae, Shelby, Sam, Logan, Landon, Lucas, Brad, Michaela, Emilee, Corey, Amber, Michael, Katelin, Mila, Anika, Makayla and Addison; his great grandchildren, Toby, Grayson, Sophia, Griffin, Ryden and Kinslee; and his siblings, Jill Fitzpatrick (Mike) of Cedar Rapids, Janelle Kurth (Dave) of Millstadt, Rod Saari (Vicki) of Cedar Rapids and Duane Saari (Laurie) of St. Louis, Missouri. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, a Memorial Fund in Dave's memory has been established at Farmers State Bank in Hiawatha.
