It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Betty Gay of Rose Hill, Iowa, who passed away on April 19, 2025, at the age of 90, leaving to mourn family and friends. Leave a sympathy message to the family on the memorial page of Betty Gay to pay them a last tribute.
She was predeceased by: her parents, Everett "Pat" Ray and Dorothy Lamoine Dunwoody (Poe); her husband Vernon Wayne Gay; her siblings, Juanita Dunwoody, Evelyn Lobbrecht, Phyllis Arnold and George Dunwoody; and her brothers-in-law, Bevan Dykstra, Ivan Arnold, Ralph Lobbrecht, Jack Van Skike and Bob Rouze.
She is survived by: her children, Howard, Mary Gay of Rose Hill, Larry, Christy Gay of Oskaloosa, Shirley, Steve Goemaat of New Sharon and Beverly Davis of Cedar; her grandchildren, Travis Gay (Jenny), Aimee Higgins (Jon), Joshua Gay (Katie), Nathaniel Gay (Becca), Holly Verhoef (Dean), Heather Malone (Larry), Matthew Molesworth, Rebecca Brittian (Jeremie Francis), Christina Hatfield (Jarrod), Eric Molesworth (Niki), Katie Forbes (Justin), Brett Smithart (Hope) and Ryan Smithart (Michelle); and her siblings, Bob Dunwoody (Kathy) of Polk City, Jane Dykstra of Eddyville, Peggy Van Skike of Oskaloosa and Loretta Davis.
Memorial contributions can be made to the Mahaska Health Foundation and directed to the Hospice Serenity House.
