She was predeceased by : her parents, Wilhelm Lux and Edna Lux (Schierholz); her husband Roy Van Houten; her siblings, Dale Lux (Darlene) and Adella Baumgarn (Don); her nephews, Jeffrey Shinkle and Douglas Baumgarn; and her cousins, Orlan Lux and Jolene Noviel.

She is survived by : her children, Craig Van Houten of Melvin, IA, Scott Van Houten of Sanborn, IA and Kay Christianson (Dean) of Albert Lea, MN; her grandson Justin Van Houten (Mindi) of Melvin, IA; her children, Jason Christianson (Lisa) of Colorado, Logan (Scarlet Louviere) of Melvin and Brian Christianson (Linds) of Montana; her great grandchildren, Ashlyn, Cienna, Caleb and Eli; and her sisters, Joyce Wagner (Junior) of Hartley, IA and Janet Shinkle (Dan) of Okoboji, IA. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
