It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Elaine Florence Merchant of Sioux City, Iowa, born in Sloan, Iowa, who passed away on May 13, 2022, at the age of 86, leaving to mourn family and friends. She was predeceased by: her parents, Richard "Red" Hollinger and Ruby Hollinger (Tague); her daughter Joyce Willemsen; and her siblings, Annabelle, Milo, Richard, Eva, Edward, Carol, Marlene, Raymond and Linda.
She is survived by: her husband John Merchant of Sioux City; her daughters, Paula Steig (Bill Babb) of Sioux City and Julie Lanzourakis of Sioux City; her grandchildren, Hiedi Willemsen, Jennifer Willemsen, Melissa Lanzourakis-Joens (Al), Michael Willemsen (Aimee), David Steig, Zackery Lanzourakis, Kurt Steig and James Lanzourakis; and her sister Jessie O'Brien. She is also survived by 11 great grandchildren.
