With solemn hearts, we announce the passing of James J. C. Abdo Jr. of Sioux City, Iowa, whose presence will be deeply missed, having departed on July 26, 2025. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
He was predeceased by: his parents, James C. Abdo, and Margaret Abdo, Sr. (George); and his brother Jerry Abdo. He is survived by: his wife Patricia "Pat" Abdo of Sioux City, Iowa; his children, Theresa Garthright (Gregg) of Mesa, Mike Abdo (Peg) of Maiden, Carol Abdo-Brownsberger (Dan) of Daytona Beach and Pam Abdo; his pet Belle of Sioux City, Iowa; his grandchildren, Matthew Garthright (Mitzi), Melissa Carter (Michelle) and Kari Garthright (Suzie); his sons, David Hobbs and Brett Hegarty; and his siblings, Geri Kayl, Ronnie Hegarty (Carol), Dan Hegarty (Cris), Randy Hegarty (Pat), Terry Hegarty (Paula), Tom Hegarty (Carol Sue) and Rick Coury (Helen). He is also survived by several cousins, nieces, nephews, and an aunt.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, July 29th 2025 from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel (3220 Stone Park Blvd, Sioux City, IA 51104). A rosary will be held on Tuesday, July 29th 2025 at 6:00 PM at the same location. A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, July 29th 2025 at 8:00 PM at the same location. A Mass of Christian burial will be held on Wednesday, July 30th 2025 at 11:00 AM at the St. Michael's Catholic Church (2223 Indian Hills Dr, Sioux City, IA 51104).
Memorial contributions may be offered to St. Croix Hospice of Sioux City, Noah's Hope Animal Rescue of Sioux City, or a charity of the donor's choice.
