He is survived by: his wife Janice Ashbacker of Solon; his children, Steven Ashbacker of Solon and Michelle Backus of Cedar Rapids; his grandchildren, Milo, Marin and Rowan; his siblings, James Cavanaugh (Angela) of Nevada, Inez Volkman (Earl) of Illinois and Yvonne Januschik of Illinois; and his sister-in-law Betty Cavanaugh. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
