He was loved and cherished by many people including: his grandfather Larry Olson; his mother Julie Jorgenson; his grandmother Shirley Olson of Okoboji; and his pet Cletus. He was also cherished by his five nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, the family has established the Alex Jacobsen Memorial Fund to benefit mental health care in Clay County.
